Common Heart Diseases

Heart disease is a potentially life threatening condition. But, most people know very little about it. Their knowledge is limited to heart attacks. There are actually several forms of heart disease. Knowing the different forms of heart disease can help you ensure proper health. In this article, we explain common heart diseases.

Hypertension Heart Disease

Hypertension is simply high blood pressure. High blood pressure can come from an unknown origin. High blood pressure can also be caused by secondary hypertension. Secondary hypertension is can be caused by things like infection, tumor in the adrenal glands, damage to the kidneys or blood vessels, disease in kidneys or blood vessels, etc. Highblood pressure puts extra stress on your body. Specifically, high blood pressure causes stress on your heart and blood vessels.

Ischemic Heart Disease

Ischemic Heart Disease is made up of several heart ailments. These heart ailments cause a narrowing of the coronary artery. This narrowing causes problems within your body’s systems. This includes your heart. This decreased blood supply to your heart causes many heart problems.

Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular Disease is also caused by problems with blood supply. Reduced blood supply affects more than just your heart. It also affects your brain. This impeded blood supply can lead to a stroke. Strokes can cause problems with speech, loss of control of part of the body, etc. These affects can be permanent.

Inflammatory Heart Disease

Inflammatory Hearth Disease is when you are experiencing an inflammation of your heart muscle. It also can be an inflammation of the sac around your heart, or the heart’s inner lining. There are several potential sources of Inflammatory Heart Disease. It can be caused by toxic substances, infections; in some cases the specific origins have remained unknown.

Rheumatic Heart Disease

Rheumatic Heart Disease is caused by rheumatic fever. During a bout of rheumatic fever, the heart can become damaged. Heart valves are particularly susceptible to being affected. This is due to the heart’s valves becoming scarred, weakening of the heart, or damage to the heart’s sac by rheumatic fever. Scarring of the heart’s valves prevents them from opening and closing properly. Rheumatic fever is usually seen in childhood. It also can occur after a streptococcal infection.
